An accredited audience of listeners was on hand at the superb Abbey of Rosazzo for the Dialogue promoted by the Abbey of Rosazzo Foundation in cooperation with the Diocesan Archive of Udine on the topic "The Archive of Rosazzo: Historical Memory of the Abbey".

The director of the Diocesan Archive of Udine, don Sandro Piussi, and his collaborators dealt with the topic, highlighting the strengths and weakness of the management of the Trust, while at the same time providing a more realistic vision of the historical reality of the millenary Abbey.

Don Sandro Piussi elucidated the methodology of archiving, which follows the project originating from the Italian Episcopal Conference for Ecclesiastic Archives according to the Veltroni-Ruini convention. The system chosen (Arianna) can be interfaced with other systems used by the Church. This is a fundamental characteristic for information exchange and the promotion of culture.

Katia Bertone has been studying the possessions of the Church of the Abbey of Rosazzo Trust for over nine years. This study began with a careful analysis of the body and most of all involved the so-called "rolls" - documents of administrative content which highlighted the wealth of the landed property of the Abbey. The numerous documents have provided an insight into the internal structure of the monastery, which followed a rather rigorous hierarchy whereby the various "paid functionaries" had very precise tasks and rules.

Luca Olivo gave a detailed presentation of the digital archiving methodology according to the Italian Episcopal Conference project. The material of the Rosazzo Trust has been divided into three lots (inventory of the second lot is currently underway). Although the variety of the Trust - which gathers together only a part of the effective archive of the Abbey due to the various historical vicissitudes - appears disorderly, it still provides an interesting cross section of earlier life in abbey.

Through the analysis of a criminal trial documented among the treasures of the Trust, the archivist Katja Piazza illustrated the life which was led there, the customs of the time and the social structure, for the most part thanks to the statements made by the witnesses during the trial.

The importance of an updated and ordered archive is particularly relevant for obtaining a clear and detail picture of the life and institutions in Friuli. The archive is also of undoubted utility for the historical and scientific reconstruction in the context of restoration and reconstruction, providing precious information for maintaining the integrity of the structure and reducing alterations to a minimum.

An accredited audience of listeners was on hand at the superb Abbey of Rosazzo for the Dialogue promoted by the Abbey of Rosazzo Foundation in cooperation with the Association for International Adoption Arcobaleno of Padua on the topic "The Protection of Unaccompanied Foreign Minors".

It is a highly topical issue particularly for Friuli Venezia Giulia, which has historically been a borderland and therefore a difficult first impact for minors arriving in Italy.

Not only negative media coverage but fortunately also positive new stories increasingly often inform us of the problems, the difficulties and the initiatives adopted to confront the phenomenon which in some cases has taken on the characteristics of a real social emergency.

Given this emergency it should be emphasized that the public and private sectors have joined forces to provide adequate and satisfying responses by mobilizing economic resources, finding appropriate legal solutions in the setting of the laws in force, organizing above all a system of reception based on the respect of the individual which in this case, being minors, have evident and especially delicate needs and problems.

It was a meeting, therefore, which in the intentions of the promoters was aimed not only at illustrating the phenomenon but above all at providing a detailed analysis of several important features.

The presence of speakers from both Friuli and Veneto enabled an exchange of experience, with the analysis, despite the difference of the situations, of common problems.

Analysis from a legal point of view was provided by Paolo De Stefani, lecturer at the University of Padua and collaborator in the Public Tutor of Minors in Veneto. In addition to an analysis of the phenomenon and a description of the legal framework, he also presented his personal experience as a voluntary tutor, a new figure in the national legal setting which has led to the resolution of numerous problems.

Also from the legal point of view, Emanuela Comand of the Udine Tribunal analyzed a number of issues in the context of her daily experience, not only from a professional point of view, but also with a woman's intuition which is sensitive to interpersonal relations.

Presentations of a more practical nature were then made by Bruna Rizzato, President of the Association for International Adoption Arcobaleno, and Renato Cantoni, Director of the Foundation Casa dell'Immacolata Don De Roja in Udine. Ms Rizzato presented her personal experience as a voluntary tutor of an Afghan minor and gave a thorough analysis of the day-by-day problems she has encountered in this mission. A similarly important speech was made by Mr Cantoni, who highlighted the activity of the Foundation and underlined the need of improved coordination between the bodies responsible for and interested in the phenomenon.

In addition to discussing the coordination of operations, Francesco Milanese, Public Tutor of Minors for the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, also presented an analysis of the special problems which his numerous years in the field have enabled him to identify. The achievements of the approval of appropriate legislative instruments and the activation of instruments of intervention have on the one hand been reasons for satisfaction. The recognition of operational difficulties among the numerous responsible bodies and the voluntary organizations working in the sector has on the other hand provided a reason for placing further pressure on the national and regional authorities to improve coordination and overcome bureaucratic and administrative difficulties.

This message, which was further highlighted during the course of other speeches, constitutes the leitmotiv for the adoption of solid initiative to overcome these difficulties.
